Abstract: Lithium Niobate (LN), a material platform widely used in optics for eo modulation and nonlinear conversion, has emerged as a focal point in the realm of integrated photonics. The thin film Lithium Niobate (TFLN) based Photonics Integrated Circuits (PICs) enables applications spanning the entire spectral range from radio frequency to Visible light: optical clock, 5G/6G communication, Lidar, AI accelerator, Sensing, AR/VR, etc.

In this defense, topics will cover the authors research efforts on the multi-band TFLN photonics components from laser, comb generator to frequency converters and others, highlighting their innovative designs, principles, and significant commercial potential.
