Faculty Wendi B. Heinzelman, Ph.D Assistant Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering Key Words: Research Interests: Dr. Heinzelman’s area of expertise is in routing and medium access control (MAC) protocols for wireless communication, architectures for wireless sensor networks, digital signal processing, video compression, multimedia communication, and low-power design techniques. Her research interests are in ad-hoc wireless multimedia systems, wireless sensor networks, power-efficient algorithms, and networking protocols to enable home-based health monitoring and evaluation. Current projects include: developing an infrastructure to enable resource sharing in mobile ad-hoc networks, designing a middleware that allows applications to affect network configuration in dynamic environments, and exploring the effect of protocol infrastructures for sensor networks on different application spaces.
