May 25th , 2012: Congratulations to Himanshu Shekhar for being awarded the SPIE Student Scholarship in Optics and Photonics 3for the year 2012!
April 12th , 2012: Sanghamithra Korukonda successfully defended her Doctoral Thesis - Application of Synthetic Aperture Imaging to Non Invasive Vascular Elastography. Congratulations Dr. Korukonda!
March 2012: Congratulations to Himanshu Shekhar for publishing his research article in the journal Medical Physics .
February 2012: Himanshu Shekhar and Sasoon Torosean (Dartmouth College) presented their research at SPIE Medical Imaging 2012. Himanshu received a travel grant from University of Rochester to present his paper on Coded Excitation Subharmonic Imaging at the conference. Sasoon presented a paper on Imaging the Kinetics of Drug Delivery, which was carried out in collaboration with our group.
January 2012: Dr. Doyley's review article on Model Based Elastograpy, published in Physics in Medicine and Biology, has been selected as a featured article.This paper also featured as Editor's Choice on Medical Physics Web.
2011:
November 2011: Congratulations to Ms. Sanghamithra Korukonda and Dr. Michael Richards for publishing their research in the journals Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology , and Physics in Medicine and Biology respectively.
Prof. Marvin doyley and Dr. Micheal Richards presented their research at the International Conference on Ultrasonic Measurement and Imaging of Tissue Elasticity , held at Aarlington, Texas, from Oct. 12-15, 2011.
August 30, 2011: Rohit Nayak (incoming PhD student in ECE), who is joining PIRL. Rohit's research will focus on Ultrasound Elastography for Carotid Imaging.
June 25th, 2011: Himanshu Shekhar has secured the second position for the Best Student Paper in Biomedical Acoustics at the 161st Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America for his paper. Earlier, Himanshu was awarded University of Rochester's Graduate Organizing Group conference travel grant for presenting this paper at the ASA meeting.
March 20th, 2011: Himanshu Shekhar will be presenting his paper on Optimum Excitation of Ultrasound Contrast Agent for IVUS imaging at the 161st Meeting of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA-2011, Seattle).
2010:
Nov 15th, 2010: Dr. Jiang Yao, has joined our group. Her research will focus on studying the biomechanics of atherosclerotic plaque using ultrasonic imaging and finite element modeling.
Oct 19th, 2010: Dr. Micheal Richards, Sanghamithra Korukonda and Shayin Jing presented their papers entitled "A model based approach to IVUS Elastography", "Displacement estimation of the carotid artery using synthetic apperture imaging" and "Minimizing the effect of catheter eccentricity on IVUS" respectively at the International Conference on Ultrasonic Measurement and Imaging of Tissue Elasticity 2010.
Sept 1, 2010: Dr. Ramin Eslami, has joined our group. His research will focus on Magnetic Resonance Elastography Imaging.
Sept 1, 2010: Sarvesh Swami, MS student in ECE, has joined our group. His research will focus on Ultrasound Elastography Imaging.
April 25th, 2010: Steve Huntzicker, PhD student in ECE, has joined our group. Steve's research will focus on Magnetic Resonance Elastography Imaging.
April 19th, 2010: Dr. Doyley and Dr. Michael Richards presented papers on Nonlinear IVUS Imaging and Model Based IVUS Elastography at the 159th meeting of the Acoustical society of America (April 19th - 23rd, 2010) Baltimore, Maryland.
2009:
September 2009: Dr. Michael Richards has joined our group. His research will focus on Model based IVUS Elastography Imaging.
July 2009: Dr. Doyley has been awarded a new NIH R01 grant titled "IVUS Detection of Rupture Prone Plaques". The overall goal of the project is to develop ultrasonic methods to assess the functional and structural properties of life-threatening atherosclerotic plaques and the arterial wall.The outcome of the project will advance the use of ultrasound for the diagnosis of atherosclerosis.
