REU Y2 Concludes

REU Y2 2023This summer, we welcomed the second cohort of students from the National Science Foundation-funded Research Experience for Undergraduates program “Imaging in Medicine and Biology for Underrepresented Minorities.” 11 students from institutions across the country worked on research projects with nine UR faculty members. Led by our own department chair, Professor Marvin Doyley (pictured, top right) along with Professor Jiebo Luo (Computer Science), this was an important opportunity for students from underrepresented groups to study crucial questions in the field of medical imaging. We look forward to hosting the third cohort in the summer of 2024.

Jeff Rowan Successfully Defends PhD Thesis

Congratulations to Jeffrey (Jeff) Rowan who successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Modification of Ultrasound Contrast Agent for Optimal Imaging.” Jeff's public defense took place on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, immediately followed by a closed-door defense session. Jeff has been advised by Professor Marvin Doyley. His PhD committee was chaired by Professor Mark Buckley (Biomedical Engineering); other committee members were Professor Zhiyao Duan (Electrical & Computer Engineering) and Professor Stephen McAleavey (Biomedical Engineering). New MS Program in Diagnostic Imaging

An exciting new master’s degree program in diagnostic imaging will appeal to medical and engineering students. Developed by Professor Doyley and colleagues in the Department of Imaging Sciences, the MS program is offered in partnership with our Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Medical Center.
