  • Rochester Center for Biomedical Ultrasound
Engineers from several engineering departments and physicians from the Medical Center work together to understand and develop new methods of using ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of disease, for example, cancerous tumors of the prostate or breast.
  •
  • Center for Electronic Imaging Systems The Center for Electronic Imaging Systems (CEIS), administered from offices in Taylor Hall is one of New York State’s five Enhanced Centers for Advanced Technology (ECATs), and includes two major research programs: the Center for Advanced Technology in Electronic Imaging Systems (CAT-EIS) and the Microelectronics Design Center (MDC). These research programs are supported by NYSTAR, the New York State Office of Science, Technology and Academic Research, as well as by companies interested in the products of the research.
  •
  • Center for Future Health The Center for Future Health is a multidisciplinary research facility dedicated to the creation of a system of affordable, easy to use and integrated Smart Health Tools for use by consumers in their homes. Four advanced consortia are currently researching innovative and patentable health care applications involving technologies for aging well, healthy skin, pathogen detection and health care support for developing nations and underserved communities.
  •
  • Center for Superconducting Digital Electronics Engineers are working toward a new technology that would speed the transmission of digital signals enormously. Applications include satellites that can transmit more data, and satellite pictures with greater resolution magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans.
  •
  • High Performance VLSI/Integrated Circuit Design and Analysis Laboratory
  •
  • Advanced Computer Architecture Laboratory
  •
  • Laboratory for Laser Energetics LLE is a unique setting where scientists study laser fusion, where atoms of hydrogen are heated so fast by a giant laser that they fuse, creating bursts of energy - the same process that powers the sun and other stars. LLE is the largest unclassified laboratory of its kind in the nation.
  •
  • Center for Optics Manufacturing (COM) "University scientists work with industry partners to optimize shop floor productivity, promote continuous improvement, and deliver quality. This joint effort advances technology, expands the skill base, fosters education, and maximizes the potential of the U.S. precision optics industry."
  •
  • Computer Circuits and Systems Group "The CCS group is a joint venture of the Departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rochester, and has been the primary target for growth in both departments, with six new faculty hired since the Fall of 2000."
