December 2006 in Niagara Fall

Hi there! My name is Lei Qiao, a second-year graduate student in University of Rochester. Two years ago I came to United States to pursue my master's degree in electrical engineering. Before that I lived with my parents and grandparents in Beijing, China for 23 years. I am so glad to make many friends from all over the world.

My Concentration of Study
One of my study interest is the low power digital VLSI system design. With the remarkable success of personal computing devices and wireless communication, low power design has been given more weight and power optimizations on different design level are employed. I am also interested in parallel computing architecure and cluster technology. As a cost-effective solutions to replace the costly supercomputers, the clusters delivers higher performance with a group of commodity PCs connected by a fast local network.

My Career Objective
More than 20 years ago, John Scully, former CEO at Pepsi was impressed by the earnest invitation of Steve Jobs when Apple Computer Corp. was a small company – “Are you going to sell soda for the rest of your life, or take the chance to change the world?” Many years later, I am still excited for those words. I sincerely hope that I can contribute all of my expertise in bettering the living condition of people from all over the world.
