Pictures from Kenya

Visiting Evangeline

This was the first time we met Evangeline, a girl we sponsor through an organization called ChildReach. This is Evangeline's school. All the kids ran out to meet us and to get their picture taken. This is Evangeline's family - mother (blue shirt), father, siblings, and an unknown woman - in front of the house where Evangline sleeps. The house is made from sticks, mud, and Coke bottles.
This is a hospital that ChildReach helped build. This is a school that ChildReach helped build.

Visiting the Equator

Wendi with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and one foot in the Southern Hemisphere. The equator passes very close to the base of Mt. Kenya. We saw a demonstration there that water does indeed swirl clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, counterclockwise in the Southern Hemisphere, and not at all on the equator. This Coriolis Effect can be seen only 20m on either side of the equator.
